Flamenco Dance Fabrics
Flamenco Dance Fabrics
One of our specialities is flamenco fashionAnd for this, we have a wide range of fabrics to enjoy this discipline so typical of Andalusia and, at the same time, so international.
To make a skirt, dress or gown for flamenco dancing, it is important to choose fabrics that allow movement and fluidity, in order to enhance the characteristic movements of flamenco dancing.
Do you need advice on how to get to know our flamenco fabrics?

We begin by highlighting two of the most classic fabrics for flamenco dancing: crepe and silk stitch. Two basics that can be found in any dance studio or in any dancer's wardrobe.
Crepe fabric.
Also known as crepe or koshibo, crepe is known for its crinkled texture and slightly rough appearance.
It is a non-stretch, lightweight, softly draping fabric, ideal for enhancing the movement of the dance. In addition, it is crease-resistant, easy to maintain and easy to sew.
A few days ago we discovered the new Natasha prints, as one of our most demanded fabrics for flamenco dance.
However, apart from these novelties, we have Natasha's most iconic models as well as other options on crepe.

Knitted fabric.
We are talking about a fabric that is highly recognised in this discipline for its comfort.
It is a soft and drapey knit, light and opaque.
It is mainly used in rehearsal skirts, such as the one shown in the video, although it is also often seen on stage.
ORIA. Reference: 03501/04-0002. Stretch knitted fabric (silk stitch) printed with flowers and polka dots.
We discovered other options made with the same base, combining plain and printed:

Likewise, there are also two fabrics that, although not as well known as the previously mentioned, are ideal for flamenco dancing, providing a distinctive touch: lace and velvet fabrics.
Lace fabrics.
When choosing a lace for dancing, make sure it is elastic.
We want the fabric to accompany the body's movements and to be able to return to its usual shape, enhancing each body posture.
It is a widely used resource when it comes to closing a garment, either to decorate the body or to cover the back and sleeves.
However, as we can see in the image, it can also dress the body, giving it this distinguished touch that makes it unique.

Velvet fabrics.
This is a growing trend in this discipline, thanks to the nature of velvet itself.
Its shine, elasticity and comfort make it stand out like no other.
VELVET MARTELE. Reference: 00219-0004. Stretch velvet fabric. Shredded velvet.
And although it is true that these are the most commonly used fabrics, there are other fabrics that are ideal for flamenco dancing. These are fabrics that, due to their nature, provide characteristics that make them stand out on stage. Let's discover them:
Chiffon fabric.
This fabric is magic on its own. Its movement, lightness and volatility make it the perfect choice for dance performances where textile visual support is a requirement.
It also has the innate benefits of chiffon, such as freshness and transparency.
ZAGRA. Reference: 04117/07-0207. Elastic chiffon fabric printed with polka dots of 1.30 cm.
Solutions on chiffon (same base) can also be enjoyed on plain, printed or flocked polka dot chiffon:

D-DRAVA ESTP. Reference: 01676/04-0748. Fine chiffon fabric. Printed polka dots of 1.30 cm.
Elastic tulle.
It is often one of the most popular choices as a substitute for lace.
Like this one, it is usually used to cover sleeves and backs, giving a simpler and more elegant look.
MESHDANCE. Reference: 02633-0009. Tulle with elastane.
Plumeti fabrics can also be found in this space:
VEREDA. Reference: 01874-0307. Plumeti tulle fabric.
EDNA. Reference: 01873-0307. Plumeti tulle fabric.
Stretch fabric.
We close this review with a basic: stretch fabric.
Although it is a thick article and that a-priori can make us doubt, it is a fabric that if we sew on the bias we will be able to give it an incomparable movement.
D-STRECH ESTP. Reference: 03946/52-0335. Polyester fabric with 1.50 cm polka dot print. Colour: Blue/ White
